MIKEY LEWIS has made the cut for England’s 23-man squad for this month’s Rugby League World Cup in Australia despite a disappointing end to the Super League season.
Hull KR’s former Man of Steel suffered injury and disciplinary issues towards the end of the campaign in which defending champions Rovers crashed out in the first round of the play-offs.
However, Lewis has been given the nod over half-back rival Jake Connor by new head coach Brian McDermott, which means there are no players from long-time league leaders Leeds in the squad.
