Brazil’s Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST) won eight legislative seats in Sunday’s general elections, consolidating its strategy of bringing its main demands into institutional politics. Those demands include agrarian reform, family farming, agroecology and the fight against hunger and inequality.
Four of the seats are in the Chamber of Deputies and four in state assemblies.

In the Chamber of Deputies, Valmir Assunção (Workers’ Party, PT-Bahia), Rosa Amorim (PT-Pernambuco), Marcon (PT-Rio Grande do Sul) and João Daniel (PT-Sergipe) were elected. Assunção, Marcon and João Daniel were reelected. Amorim, until now a member of Pernambuco’s Legislative Assembly, will enter the National Congress for the first time.
In the state legislatures, Adão Pretto Filho (Rio Grande do Sul), Marina do MST (Rio de Janeiro), Missias (Ceará) and Camilo Daniel (Sergipe) were elected. The first three renewed their mandates; Camilo Daniel will take a seat in Sergipe’s Legislative Assembly for the first time.
The result is a new expression of the political presence of a movement that has historically acted through social mobilization and the organization of rural workers, but that in recent years has also increased its electoral participation.

it’s not looking that good though. the actual fascists now hold majority in the chamber and the executive is about to be held by another bolsonaro who effectively promised the country to the empire. the few leftists getting elected will be run over.
