Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli army attacked olive harvesters, burned olive trees and detained dozens of people in the occupied West Bank on Saturday.

The pogroms took place in olive groves in localities including the village of Abu Dis, the city of Awarta and the Az-Zahra area in the city of Beita, according to press deployed in the zone.

“When we arrived this morning, a group of about 50 masked settlers approached us. They were throwing stones and attacked a house,” a California activist volunteering with Palestinian communities during the olive harvest, who asked to remain anonymous, told the press. “Shortly after, soldiers arrived who followed the settlers, gathered all the Palestinians and activists who were harvesting olives and told the activists they had to leave. They sat them on the ground at gunpoint and forced us to leave,” the U.S. volunteer added.

Israeli forces also detained and assaulted journalists in the Jabal Qamass area of Beita, south of Nablus. In the village of Osarin, also in that governorate in the northern West Bank, they launched tear gas against Palestinians and journalists, attacked homes, stoned vehicles and assaulted several villagers, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Dozens of ancient olive trees were set ablaze by Israeli settlers in the wilderness of Abu Dis, east of occupied Jerusalem, causing extensive damage to centuries-old trees and threatening Palestinian agricultural land and livelihoods.

Footage from Al Jazeera also captured settlers destroying a Palestinian vehicle in Osarin, while other videos showed armed settlers attacking a Palestinian home in Beita. Local media reported that several residents tried to repel the attacks by residents of illegal settlements, which are part of a broader pogrom against Palestinians in the West Bank that has intensified since February.

Since Israel launched its war against Gaza in October 2023, Israelis have killed 1,212 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 254 children. Most of the killings were carried out by soldiers, while more than a quarter were committed by settlers, according to the report. Palestinian authorities say 30 Palestinians have died at the hands of settlers since the beginning of 2026, more than in any other year since 2022.
