“Venezuela has accumulated 22 consecutive quarters of economic growth, and now we have the challenge of transforming that momentum into greater social well-being,” said the head of state of the South American nation.
Rodriguez mentioned that together with the IDB delegation, “we advanced in financing, investment and infrastructure mechanisms that allow strengthening all the productive sectors of the country.”
“There is room for all sectors: to produce more, invest more and continue to make Venezuela grow,” Rodríguez stressed.
The IDB reopened its office in Venezuela, as announced by James Scriven, general manager of IDB Invest, during the National Council of Economy. This action seeks to strengthen the IDB’s presence in the country, with the aim of supporting the private sector and promoting investments that contribute to development.
The IDB Group is the main source of development financing in the region, is made up of the Inter-American Development Bank (for governments), IDB Invest (for the private sector) and IDB Lab (for innovative solutions).
“Venezuela is going through historic moments these days, because of what we have been through, but above all where we are going, where we are headed, what future we envision,” declared the acting president.
She highlighted that the country is in a process of recovery of the National Electric System (SEN), under very different conditions, “because we can now access spare parts suppliers, technology that allows us to recover the SEN, consolidate it, so that it goes hand in hand with the great economic growth that awaits Venezuela.”
“We are already starting to see it. There is an economic effervescence in Venezuela. And I would give this National Council of Economy recognition and a decoration, because here too is the expression, along with the workers of Venezuela, of what the resistance and identity of Venezuelans is, that we never give up,” she expressed.
Rodríguez also recalled that these are sectors that were “very hard hit by the economic blockade, but today they know that there is hope and the path that will allow us the full recovery of our country.
“The president was confident that “we can draw efficient paths and mechanisms for the financing of economic activity in Venezuela.”
