Israel has rushed out a propaganda film to try to counter the award-winning NAZA documentary that showcases the confessions of genocidal Israeli troops of their crimes in Gaza. Or, as the official narrative puts it, “Three Israeli creators have released a documentary designed to directly counter and discredit NAZA”.
“Creators”??
The word “creators” is doing some lifting, though. The three ‘creator/directors’ are Lt. Col. Roi Danino (the clue’s in the title!), Hagai Gutman, and Ariel Averbuch.
Danino self-describes as:
a strategic advisor and business mentor, specializing in business development, turnaround strategies, and leading companies to sustainable growth in rapidly changing environments.
Not much of a ‘creator-director pedigree there. seemingly.
Averbuch, similarly, describes himself as:
an experienced Attorney at Law & Patent Attorney.
Uh-huh.
Hagai Gutman is harder to pin down. He may be ‘CEO’ of a firm (at least officially) importing and exporting stuff like bread, a wannabe singer (or both). Or something else entirely — but not in movies. None of the three are mentioned on the imdb film database.
The 49-minute propaganda film’s official FAQ gives no information about the makers. Instead, it lists Israel’s talking points about its actions in Gaza, essentially a summary of the ‘most moral army’ nonsense. It even uses the ‘most moral army in the world’ in its first few seconds. Section headings include:
What was under the baby’s crib?
How do you tell a terrorist from a civilian?
A man walks up holding a child’s hand. Now what?
Where did the aid trucks end up?
Who decides when to fire?
Did the hostages’ medicine ever arrive?
In short, about as sickly comedic as any Israeli propaganda — and about as compelling as you’d expect from something rushed out against a film winning some of the industry’s top awards.
Israel — Accidentally hilarious
What makes the propaganda film (presumably) unintentionally funny is exactly what makes the original NAZA compelling despite its flaws. The real documentary maintains the anonymity of war criminals to free them to confess without inhibition to the crimes they and their colleagues commit.
The propaganda slop tries to imitate, but just ends up featuring anonymous people facing away from the camera while they recite ‘hasbara’ whitewash, against bad background music.
Israel’s billions spent on trying to hide its genocide have only deepened global contempt for the colonial project being as dishonest as it is murderous. The slapped-together ‘counter-NAZA’ flops just as badly and will have just the same effect.
