He draws over 1.6 million simultaneous viewers on Flow Podcast as he reaffirms commitment to democracy.

On Thursday night, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva held an extensive conversation with journalist Igor Coelho on FLOW, a podcast that drew the attention of more than 1.5 million people, before whom the Workers’ Party leader reaffirmed his commitment to democracy and national sovereignty.

“While I am alive, I will work so that fascism does not return,” Lula said, referring to the actions of the Brazilian far right represented by Flavio Bolsonaro, whom U.S. President Donald Trump enthusiastically supports.

Amid geopolitical tensions with Washington, Lula highlighted his country’s economic and energy capabilities and questioned the efforts carried out in U.S. territory by Liberal Party candidate Flavio Bolsonaro. The statement comes ahead of next Sunday’s election, in which former President Jair Bolsonaro’s son is emerging as Lula’s main political rival.

The Workers’ Party leader also defended the continuation of programs aimed at reducing social and regional inequalities, especially those focused on low-income populations and Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities.

“Those people who don’t want me to send the daughter of a domestic worker to university so she can become a doctor, architect, engineer, psychologist or political scientist — those people who don’t like me, I will continue not to be liked by them, but I will continue doing it,” Lula said to illustrate the authentic intentions of the Brazilian right.

In the interview, Lula also reaffirmed his commitment to technical education through the expansion of the Federal Network of Professional Education, a proposal that the Workers’ Party (PT) has maintained throughout its various administrations.

In this regard, Lula recalled that Brazil had only 140 technical schools when he assumed his first term in 2003. Now, his country has 802 federal institutes. The Brazilian president linked this educational expansion to a balanced territorial distribution of public investments.

Among the technological projects mentioned to reduce regional gaps, he highlighted the allocation of a quantum computer to the state of Paraiba and high-capacity equipment for Rio Grande do Norte and Rio de Janeiro.

Flow Podcast Breaks Viewership Record

On Thursday, broadcaster Globo had planned a debate with the presidential candidates, which was canceled at the last minute.

While that was happening, the attention of Latin American and Brazilian audiences focused on Lula da Silva’s live interview on Flow Podcast.

“It became the only attraction for audiences interested in politics… With no competition, the president’s interview on Flow Podcast broke the channel’s record for simultaneous views, a mark set by Lula himself in October 2022,” journalist Luciano Guaraldo wrote the following day in Noticias da TV.

“The president’s conversation with Igor Coelho reached 1.65 million simultaneous viewers, registering an average of 1.5 million throughout the nearly two-hour interview,” he recalled.

“Lula attracted a large audience even before the broadcast began. While Flow was airing a notice before the interview started, more than 500,000 people were already following the live broadcast,” Guaraldo pointed out.

“Lula’s interview on Flow Podcast was the non-sports live broadcast with the highest simultaneous audience on YouTube worldwide during the past week,” the Brazilian journalist concluded.
