During a working meeting with officials from the water and energy sectors, Chapman urged the Electric Union and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH) to coordinate solutions that protect pumping circuits and maintain a service of vital socioeconomic importance.

The meeting—also attended by INRH President Antonio Rodríguez and Minister of Energy and Mines Vicente de la O Levy—reviewed the status of key supply sources and distribution networks, as well as pumping interruptions linked to the current energy situation and the intensification of the U.S. blockade.

As part of the strategy to counter prolonged supply shortages in municipalities such as Banes, Mayari, Urbano Noris, and the provincial capital city, authorities are prioritizing the use of renewable energy sources, gravity-fed pumping, the installation of windmills, and the rehabilitation of groundwater wells.

The government initiative also aims to strengthen the hydraulic sector’s enterprise system, increase operational efficiency, and improve socioeconomic support for its workforce.
