Addis Ababa, Oct 1st (Prensa Latina) The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided today to close its embassy in Eritrea, in response to direct and indirect acts of hostility and belligerence by that neighboring country against Addis Ababa.

Through a statement the portfolio also declared 10 Eritrean diplomats in this capital as persona non grata for their involvement in activities that pose a direct threat to national security, in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

These diplomats must leave Ethiopia within 48 hours.

Ethiopia urged the Government of Asmara to cease all acts contrary to the principles governing relations between sovereign states.

On the other hand, the communiqué valued the strong historical, cultural and human ties that unite Ethiopia with Eritrea and systematically prioritizes peaceful coexistence, regional stability and integration.

In conclusion, he reiterated his commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and to working with all countries in the Horn of Africa to promote lasting peace, security and regional integration.
