The Israeli military is reportedly planning to reopen the settler exclusive Route 463 in the central West Bank, a move that Palestinian officials warn will deeply fragment the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorates. According to Jamaal Jumaa of the Palestinian grassroots Anti-Apartheid campaign, the road will “isolate Ramallah from all its villages up to Green Line.” Ramallah’s two colleges, Birzeit University and American University, would totally be isolated as well from the rest of the city. “It’s part of dividing and dividing more and more Palestinians from each other,” noted Jumaa.
