In July, Israeli settlers, supported and protected by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) succeeded in forcibly displacing the Tubasi family from their two homes. These illegal colonists had laid siege to their houses in the West Bank village of Jalud, near Nablus.
Not only did they withhold food and water, but they also assaulted the family every day. These actions were intended to expel the Tubasis from their properties, so settlers could take them over. Once the family was displaced, the settlers and soldiers took over their homes and caused extensive damage.
For two weeks, Israeli settlers besieged the Palestinian Tubasi family’s home in Jalud Village West Bank, attacking them repeatedly until they were forced out today. Staged compliance with court order from the occupation’s military and police
But a court order ruled that the family of Mahmoud Tubasi, 60, must be allowed to safely return to their homes by 22 September at the latest. So, a week later than was demanded of them, the occupation’s military and border police coordinated and escorted the family back to their homes on the night of 28 September.
According to Mahmoud Tubasi, as the family returned, settlers started throwing stones at the occupation’s armed police and military. Instead of taking any action against them, Tubasi says the ‘Israeli’ authorities “didn’t do anything, unfortunately.”
Then, soon after their return, more than 100 Israeli settlers arrived and broke into the house. The IOF then forced the family to evacuate their home yet again. Their car and also two homes were then set alight, ensuring the Tubasi family could no longer live in them.

“They left nothing, everything was broken”
Wael Tubasi owns one of the two homes. He told Reuters:
They damaged everything — the doors, the tiles were removed, the stairs were removed. They smashed the bathrooms, doors and windows. They left nothing, everything was broken.

Israeli occupation soldiers and border police remained present during the attack, and knew what was happening. But they did not stop the settlers from destroying the homes of the Tubasi family, to stop them from returning again.
It’s not just settler terror: over a hundred settlers broke into several Palestinian villages in the West Bank, setting homes and cars on fire. They even wounded several soldiers who were escorting the Tubasi family as they tried to return to their home in Jalud, from which they… pic.twitter.com/0nNix0FTxt

The settlers then rampaged through the village — blocking roads and setting tyres alight. Several other properties in the village were then targeted, including residents’ homes and agricultural or utility sheds, where windows were smashed. A school was also targeted in an attempt to set it on fire, although residents managed to prevent a fire taking hold. They confronted the attackers, then clashes broke out between them.
Zionists dismiss the Israeli settlers violence towards Palestinians
Netanyahu, unsurprisingly, has attempted to dismiss the uncontrollable violence in Jalud as the work of just a “handful of rioters.” He mentioned nothing about the attacks on Palestinians when he said:
I strongly condemn the violent riots last night in the Samaria region and the harm inflicted on the security forces who arrived at the scene to maintain law and order…The handful of rioters does not represent the law-abiding settler community in Judea and Samaria, does them a grave injustice, and hinders our forces in fulfilling their mission.
Mike Huckabee, US ambassador to ‘Israel,’ did exactly the same recently, when he talked about the settler siege on Palestinian homes in the village of Qusra:
Settlers are not the problem in Judea and Samaria. ‘Unsettlers’ are, …Very small minority who do great damage to Palestinian families & to Israel.
For almost two months, Palestinian residents continued to be trapped, as settlers attempt to forcibly displace them from their homes and land by cutting off their water and electricity supply.
It is clear to see that settler violence does not only involve a few individuals acting in isolation. UN reporting has documented thousands of settler attacks against Palestinians and their property across the occupied West Bank. These include killings, injuries, arson, vandalism and the destruction of homes and livelihoods.
Early morning on 29 September, around 150 settlers also carried out arson attacks on homes and vehicles in the village of al Mughayyir, east of Ramallah. These occurred while the occupation’s military were carrying out one of their almost daily raids there. The settlers set fire to cars and various other structures.

The home of the late Hamdan Abu Alia — an 18-year-old who was killed by the IOF in August 2025 — was also attacked. Settlers then tried to set a house alight which had 20 children trapped inside it.

Before leaving, they left graffiti on the walls, which read: “we want revenge” and “death to Arabs.” Although present during the arson attacks, the IOF again did not intervene to stop the crimes taking place. Instead, they prevented residents from confronting the settlers when homes were being targeted, by firing tear gas. As usual, no arrests of settlers were carried out.
Israeli settlers carry out these attacks on Palestinians with no accountability, every day
These attacks take place within a broader system in which settlers — all of them illegal under international law — are armed and funded by ‘Israel’s’ genocidal government. These settlers are also repeatedly accompanied and protected by Israeli occupation soldiers and police. They all work together to carry out ‘Israel’s’ colonial project of ethnically cleansing the Palestinian territory.
The scale, frequency and geographic spread of the violence make Netanyahu’s portrayal of it as the work of a “handful” of troublemakers impossible to take seriously. This is not just a few people causing trouble. It is a pattern of violence, intimidation and dispossession that Palestinians have been forced to endure for decades, again and again.
