Russian cyclist Petr Rikunov, riding for the Wheeltop Rotor Chengdu team, won the fourth stage of the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia this Wednesday. The stage covered 142.3 kilometers between Meru Raya and Cameron Highlands, concluding with a climb up a special-category mountain pass to an altitude of 1,451 meters.

Rikunov completed the course in 3 hours, 29 minutes, and 12 seconds, averaging a speed of 40.81 km/h. In the final meters, the Russian attacked from the breakaway group and crossed the finish line with a 3-second lead over Spaniard Javier Ibáñez (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), who took second place. Frenchman Alan Jousseaume (TotalEnergies) finished third, 9 seconds back, while Spaniard Nil Gimeno (Kern Pharma) finished fourth, 28 seconds behind, and was named the day’s most combative rider.
In the general classification of the 2026 Tour de Langkawi, German rider Lennart Jasch (Tudor Pro Cycling) retains the orange leader’s jersey, followed by Spaniard Abel Balderstone (Caja Rural) at 20 seconds. The group of favorites, including Jasch, arrived 1 minute and 35 seconds after the winner, meaning there were no changes to the top positions in the overall standings.
Spain holds two spots on the general classification podium: Balderstone is second, and Jan Castellón (Caja Rural) is third, 38 seconds back. José Manuel Díaz (Burgos Burpellet BH) sits in fourth place, 1 minute and 14 seconds behind, and Jorge Gutiérrez (Kern Pharma) is ninth, at 1 minute and 41 seconds; all four arrived in the leader’s group. Rikunov climbs 10 places to 18th in the general classification, trailing by 3:29, and claims the mountains (polka-dot) jersey with 29 points. In the points classification, Italian rider Matteo Malucelli (XDS Astana) remains the leader, while Japan’s Yuhi Todome (Aisan) tops the Asian riders’ classification.
The day’s three intermediate sprints were shared among several riders: in Gopeng, Ibáñez, Rikunov, and Japan’s George Matsui took 3, 2, and 1 point respectively; in Kampar, Indonesian rider Ade Meisa (Nusantara Cycling) finished first, followed by Rikunov and Ibáñez; and in Tapah, the win went to Rikunov, ahead of Jousseaume and Meisa.
Stage 5 of the Tour de Langkawi takes place this Thursday, covering 125.7 kilometers between Tapah and Genting Highlands.
