“What you’re dealing with is a system that needs to be dismantled.” On September 13, families of victims of police violence gathered for the sixth annual Justice for All Stolen Lives March in St. Paul, Minnesota. The demonstration started at St. Paul police department and marched to the Minnesota State Capitol, honoring the lives of those killed by law enforcement. Linda Kay Taylor spoke to BT about the challenges of pursuing justice in a corrupt system stacked against Black and brown communities. Taylor’s nephew, Amir Locke, was shot and killed by SWAT officer Mark Hanneman of the Minneapolis Police Department in 2022. He was only 22 years old.
