The Association noted that the gathering involves sectors that have betrayed their own peoples.

The group stated, “In the case of some Cubans who have confirmed their attendance at the event, they are undoubtedly the ‘prematurely born’ (the island’s National Hero) Jose Marti referred to: those who lack faith in their homeland because they lack courage themselves and deny it to others.”

The organization deemed it “outrageous that those who have sold their souls to the State that for more than 60 years has imposed a genocidal economic, commercial, and financial blockade, and an energy siege on Cuba, intend to present themselves as bearers of solutions” for the region.

The Association remembered that this criminal blockade has sought to surrender the Cuban people to hunger and deprivation, violating human rights and international law systematically.

The United States has enforced, for more than six decades, an economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the Caribbean nation, tightened in January due to an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump.

Fuel shortages are drastically impacting critical spheres in the Caribbean nation, including power generation, hospitals, food production and distribution, and water pumping.
