The former singer of Charanga Habanera and Charanga Latina—among other prominent Cuban orchestras—delighted the audience at the auditorium of the Miraflores Municipality (the fair’s organizer), where diplomatic missions showcased products and achievements from their respective countries.

Fortuna immediately connected with the audience, having visited Peru for at least two decades to fulfill artistic commitments with the various groups he has performed with.

The performance grew in intensity alongside the crowd’s enthusiasm; the venue turned into a dance floor as the artist sang. He praised the warmth of the Peruvian audience, even singing a song from the country and highlighting the friendship between the two peoples.

During the three-day fair, the Cuban stand offered tourism-related items, cuisine, and a showcase of the country’s achievements in culture, tourism, and education.

Miraflores Mayor Carlos Canales toured the fairgrounds and visited the Cuban exhibit, where he was welcomed by Cuba’s Charge d’Affaires in Peru, Yamila Pita. He highlighted the island’s tourism attractions as well as the hospitality and warmth of the Cuban people.

The diplomat expressed her appreciation for the visit and underscored the fair’s importance “as a way to bring the sister nations of Cuba and Peru closer together.”
