Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband praised UK Palestine protesters in his speech today at Labour’s conference. The entire speech was a shameful con that should fool no one at all.
His claim to agree that Palestine protesters were right all along came less than 24 hours after Labour’s police arrested hundreds of peaceful, mostly old and disabled people, for protesting against the ‘terror’ ban on Palestine Action.
It was within even less time that he’d sat, like a weasel in the headlights until his minders intervened, as campaigners interrupted his face-filling to ask him to push for the un-banning of the group, and at least talk to those being arrested.

UN experts have condemned the ban as an “unnecessary and disproportionate” attack on the rights and freedoms of UK citizens.
Miliband stirs up misinformation
Miliband’s previous party leader waged war on Palestine to protect Israel. His current boss is continuing it. Yet Miliband claims his government opposes Israel and is holding the country to account. And he still won’t call Israel’s genocide in Gaza a “genocide”.
As soon as he’d got his ‘brownie points’ attempt out of the way, he was straight into warmongering. That was the real point of his speech.
Nobody has been charged with any terror offences in relation to the probable false flag incident near a US airbase yet. But Miliband was happy to talk as if they were tried and convicted, claiming that Fairford is a “reminder of the threats our country faces”.
Miliband was happy to boast about the UK’s constantly-increasing spending on a Ukraine-Russia war that is killing and injuring tens of thousands of people each month because of “Russia’s threats”, which he repeated over and over. A reminder: UK weapons have murdered civilians in Russia. The same does not apply in reverse.
Weasel warmongering
The UK political-media establishment is busily manufacturing consent for revived military conscription and a renewed war on the UK’s poor to pay for increased arms spending. Miliband is clearly right on board with this plan.
Miliband even tried to hide behind his Jewish refugee parents — his own version of Keir Starmer’s ‘toolmaker’s son’ shtick — to shine a virtuous light on his and his boss’ position. But that light only exposes his weasel warmongering even more.
Miliband’s father Ralph was a navy sailor in World War Two. However, he passionately opposed the UK’s involvement in US-sponsored wars and the “the wholesale slaughter of men, women and children, the maiming of many more” that come with them.
Miliband Senior called Britain’s collusion in the Vietnam war the “most shameful chapter in the history of the Labour Party”. But only because he didn’t live long enough to watch his son help a regime that is collaborating in two wars of utter carnage now. Both of these wars are entirely unnecessary and avoidable if the UK and other nations fulfilled their duties under international law instead of sabotaging peace and pushing for more war still — at home and abroad.
