The British police announced today that the five arrested on Sunday for the alleged terrorist attack are all British citizens, between 23 and 25 years old, residents of London.
Previously, on Early Sunday morning, residents in the Gloucestershire area alerted police to three suspicious vehicles heading toward the RAF base at Fairford—a facility used by the United States to launch attacks on Iran.
Acting under the Explosives Act, armed police detained five men on suspicion of plotting a terrorist act. “We are in the early stages of an investigation, and the five men remain in custody,” stated Vicki Evans, the UK’s national counter-terrorism police coordinator, as reported by The Informant.
“Aerial footage shows an Army bomb-disposal robot working between three white vans. CNN notes the rear doors of two were open with large black items scattered around,” it added.
Following police statements made on Monday, the incident appears to be a false alarm linked to the mass hysteria that anti-Iran narratives have been ceaselessly fueling.
Several men were detained near the British RAF Fairford airbase, which is used by the U.S. Air Force and where B-1B Lancer heavy bombers are stationed, on suspicion of attempting to enter the facility and plant explosives.

The independent outlet Council State Media interpreted the events as follows: “For the past few months, we’ve been told by people with a crystal ball that an attack on UK soil was imminent, and now it’s finally happened. There was an incident at RAF Fairford last night that resulted in 85 homes being evacuated.
“The media would like you to know this incident was terrifying. So terrifying, in fact, that you should probably get ready for war… Given the media seems to be making this up as it goes along, some of the details are probably going to change. Needless to say, they have plot holes to fill.”
The Iranian embassy stated that the link drawn by British media outlets between this incident and the RAF base stems from “malicious and baseless speculation” intended to “stoke the propaganda of Iranophobia in the UK.” The embassy indicated that it reserves the right to pursue appropriate legal measures to respond to false and damaging narratives.
On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the events at the RAF base but was careful not to blame Iran. He said that those arrested “were looking to cause great damage to our stronghold… We had them under surveillance for a long time and we captured them.”
However, his words contradict reports from the British press, which indicate that a resident living near the base spotted suspicious movement by masked individuals exiting white vans and alerted the police.
