A pregnant NPA member was shot and arrested by AFP and PNP-Tagum troops in Barangay Visayan, Tagum City, on September 19 at around 6:00 p.m. Arnida Cuaton Manuiguilid (Ka Lovi, Fikong, Yassy) is a pregnant NPA member who was placed in a safe area to receive medical care for her pregnancy. Her pregnancy is complicated, requiring continuous medical check-ups.

The AFP statement claiming that Arnida was allegedly shot by her fellow NPA members is an outright lie. This is a fabricated story by the butcher AFP to cover up their human rights violations against Arnida, who enjoys special protection as a woman and a pregnant one under the international rules of war, as well as respect for her individual rights. The AFP propounded the lie that the NPA shot her to evade accountability for the crime they committed against an unarmed pregnant woman.

In the continuing people’s war in FSMR, the AFP-PNP-CAFGU have committed numerous human rights violations, especially during their focused and sustained military operations across FSMR, where the primary victims are always the basic masses—farmers, settlers, Moro people, and others. Arnida is one of the victims of the AFP’s lies spread in the media to deceive and poison the minds of the people and conceal the AFP’s violations.
