Hundreds of people have been arrested as the Defend our Juries group protested against the government’s ‘proscription‘ (terrorism ban) on anti-genocide group Palestine Action. While al-Qaeda subsidiary HTS in Syria has been de-proscribed and whitewashed by the UK and US, Palestine Action remains banned. The Crown Prosecution Service and judiciary continue to collude to try to ensure the longest and harshest possible sentences.

More than 3,000 people, mostly pensioners and disabled people, have been arrested for ‘terror’ offences for opposing the proscription. That total is climbing rapidly. The victims of this judicial campaign continue to remain entirely peaceful and dignified, despite the state’s threat to imprison them for up to fourteen years:

As usual, many of the protesters were disabled, elderly or both – including Michael Higgins, who was to be arrested for the seventh time. Higgins held his placard in Arabic as an additional sign of solidarity with the Palestinians:

Meanwhile, the UK continues to send military aid to Israel — and is now helping Saudi Arabia against Yemen, which has consistently tried to combat Israel’s genocide in Gaza. As Jewish anti-genocide protesters pointed out this morning, new PM Andy Burnham looks little different to his war criminal predecessor in that regard.
