Manchester Green Party (MGP) councillors have claimed a momentous victory against notorious US tech firm Palantir. It regards their motion before Manchester City Council (MCC), which passed.
The MCC motion, titled ‘No to Palantir in the NHS‘, passed within a day of debate on 23 September. The motion follows nationwide fears about ‘the US tech giant’s integration into the material fabric of British state institutions. These especially concern Palantir-made automated AI systems.
Particular concerns including key police data and National Health Service platforms, both already underway. Palantir executives have commented on the “value” of NHS data. British health records date back decades, spanning millions of patients, which is all valuable AI training material. The problem, however, is that it’s much of our most sensitive, intimate personal data. Big no-no.
Explaining what exactly Palantir was doing in the NHS, the Register previously reported:
The FDP was created by Palantir under a much-criticized £330 million procurement for a seven-year contract awarded in November 2023. NHS England signed the deal after it awarded £60 million to the vendor without competition during the pandemic. The FDP is designed to improve information flow through various NHS organizations and reduce the backlog in non-urgent “elective care,” which skyrocketed during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Reasons to be frightful
Palantir, directed by J.D. Vance mega-donor and ‘End Times Fascist‘ Peter Thiel, is infamous for its involvement in crimes against humanity. These make it a corporate public enemy number one.
Palantir largely powers the surveillance infrastructure that enables ICE deportations violently targeting minority populations in the USA. It’s also notoriously embedded within Zionist military operations tracking, targeting and ultimately murdering Palestinians. Its leaders admit this readily. And it just so happens that the boss of Palantir UK is the grandson of British Fascist leader Oswald Mosley.
Early on, Palantir was exclusively funded with CIA deep-state money via the Pentagon’s venture fund, In-Q-Tel. Its high-value stock index owes almost entirely to US government funding, making it a largely state-engineered company. It is nakedly Western-imperialist in its ‘values’-driven mission.
The CIA-funded tech firm is credibly accused of enabling the Zionist genocide through its automated AI weapons systems. CEO Alex Karp admits that they “kill people” even if only “on occasion”. And the corporation famously bought a full-page New York Times ad stating:

Rightly, many therefore question how a CIA-spawned, Zionist surveillance technology firm can assist our NHS. Those tasked with destroying and ending lives should not be trusted with saving them.

Reasons to be cheerful
Luckily, Manchester’s Green Party have heard the public call and acted on it. MCC, which represents 20% of Greater Manchester’s population in the heart of the city-region, is banning Palantir. The creepy tech giant is no longer empowered to operate within the City’s hospitals or medical sites.
The city-region’s Integrated Care Board (ICB), a Greater Manchester-wide health and social care overseer, had already protested NHS England’s continued compliance with Palantir integration. However, with a captured NHS England still refusing to stand against Palantir, MCC has now set a strong democratic precedent for keeping the predatory company at bay.
Sharing online to celebrate the Green-led council directive, Burnage councillor Asma Alam wrote:
Manchester City Council has now committed to being PALANTIR FREE for all of its NHS trusts.
Sharing in their achievement, Green group council leader Astrid Johnson wrote:
Very proud to say that our motion passed. Congratulations to our Green Cllr Asma and Cllr Sufyaan [Jasat].
Speaking directly to the Canary, Manchester Green councillor Beth Hartness said:
I’m so proud to support my Green colleagues who proposed the motion on Palantir. It shows the effect having a green group on the city council can have. We will continue to protect people and their data from predatory companies and stand up for vulnerable people around the world.
The Green councillors — and all who voted with them to pass the motion — have every right to be proud of themselves. They’ve achieved something vitally important here.

Contrast with Camden Council and Palantir
Investigative journalist Paul Holden drew attention to Labour-controlled Camden council’s deep favourability of Palantir. It stands in sharp contrast to Manchester’s recent decision.
Holden outlined details of Camden’s investment complicity with Palantir crimes for Declassified:
Camden Council’s Local Government Pension fund has poured Council Tax money into Palantir between October 2023 and December 2025, massively increasing the value of its shareholdings in a company linked to the Israeli military and the reign of terror inflicted on immigrant communities by ICE in the US.
This increase came after thousands of local constituents sent petitions and deputations to the Labour-run Council to ask they divest from companies complicit in Israel’s occupations and wars in Palestine. …
The sole Green on Labour Council, Lorna Russell, tried repeatedly to get motions heard on divestment, but could not get a single other councillor to second the motions. When a petition from 4000 residents finally forced a debate, she was the only Councillor to speak on the floor for immediate divestment.
The council is now at the heart of the tight Labour-Green by-election contest to replace Keir Starmer in Holborn and St. Pancras. It has increased its investments in Palantir by 1,200% since late 2023 — through the most brutal phases of the Gaza genocide.
This is all overseen by the council leadership of councillor Sagal Abdi-Wali, the Starmer-endorsed Labour candidate to succeed him. Camden’s holdings also include over £10m invested in defence companies providing weapons and supplies to Israeli Occupation Forces under Abdi-Wali.
This is now the territory where Green Party leader Zack Polanski will stake his claim to become MP. If that’s the direction the constituency is heading under Labour, he should have an easier job.
