Ten terrorists wanted to ‘incite the Cuban people to take up arms and control a province for 72 hours.
On Wednesday, Belly of the Beast, Drop Site, and Miami New Times published an investigation showing that Washington sought to create conditions for a U.S. military intervention in Cuba through a speedboat incursion into the Caribbean nation’s territory.

One of the participants revealed that the group of ten men who departed from the Florida Keys bound for the island with weapons, ammunition, and explosives wanted to “incite the Cuban people to take up arms, control a province for 72 hours,” and then request assistance from U.S. authorities.
The Belly of the Beast’s investigation shares the testimonies of four survivors of the incident, which occurred in Cuban territorial waters and resulted in the deaths of four crew members.
Those interviewed remain in prison awaiting trial on terrorism charges, for which they could face up to 30 years in prison. They maintained their stance against the Cuban government, complaining of “mistreatment.”

However, the survivors confirmed that the first shot came from their boat, thus beginning the confrontation with the Cuban Coast Guard. On the Cuban side, there were no fatalities: only the Coast Guard captain was wounded by a gunshot to the abdomen.
Four of the detainees agreed to give their statements voluntarily and explained that they came into contact with each other “through TikTok.” Later, the participants began training with weapons at a farm in Fort Myers, Florida, owned by a Cuban-born political activist.
Cuban authorities explained they provided information about the incident during a visit by an FBI delegation to the island last March. However, the U.S. Coast Guard, the State Department, and the FBI have declined to comment on the case.
