LABOUR faced lobbying concerns and calls for a halt on new AI data centres yesterday after “really high levels” of cancer-causing forever chemicals were found in people living near a chemical factory.

Blood tests paid for by investigative journalists revealed dozens of villagers living near the AGC Chemicals plant in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, were at risk of serious health conditions from exposure to PFOA.

PFOA is associated with increased risks of kidney and testicular cancer and other serious health conditions and has been banned in Britain since 2020.
