ASSAULTS on passengers and the public on Britain’s railways have hit a record high, figures revealed today.There were 13,464 reported assaults against members of the public between April 2025 and March 2026, a 36 per cent rise and the highest since records began in 2004.Assaults against rail workers rose 12 per cent to 11,289.TSSA said the figures were “shocking but not surprising,” with general secretary Maryam Eslamdoust saying the union had “warned for many months that violence on the railways is spiralling out of control.
