Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez held a bilateral meeting with Chilean President José Antonio Kast on Thursday at the United Nations headquarters in New York, within the framework of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

The diplomatic meeting served as a setting for exchanging views on the regional agenda, the development of bilateral relations and the discussion of topics of mutual interest to both nations, according to the Venezuelan Presidential Press Office.

The encounter forms part of the working agenda the Venezuelan head of state is carrying out in New York, aimed at consolidating diplomatic ties and international dialogue with various global leaders within the framework of the UN multilateral forum.

In her address at the 81st UN General Assembly, Rodríguez reaffirmed the enduring relevance of Liberator Simón Bolívar’s thought as the fundamental guide for preserving Venezuela’s sovereignty, union and internal peace. During the closing of her speech, she affirmed that sovereignty resides untransferably in the people and not in the interests of factions or particular sectors.
