I’ve often wondered what the thoughts were of the people during the bronze age collapse. Did they care? Were they relieved? Did they lament what was and their hopes of what could have been? Was the societal structures of power and their destruction a relief, or a burden?
I think to all the above questions the answer was “yes”.
I have come to wonder if we are now living in the beginning of the next great social collapse. One driven not only by social decay but ecological collapse.
Will there be someone in far future to ponder our thoughts as I have of the bronze age peoples? Is it the nature of intelligent life to destroy itself, as purposed as an answer to Fermi’s great paradox? Are we the whiteness to our own destruction?
I guess we shall see.
