Protest organizers called for the prosecution of corrupt officials and for stolen public funds to be recovered. Protestors can be seen with white cloth over their faces, symbolizing suffering under martial law. The demonstration also condemned the US-led Pax Silica initiative, which would build supply chains for AI and semiconductor technologies to counter China. Local activists have sounded the alarm over the project’s potential to displace indigenous communities and well as its potential environmental impacts.
