More than 800 vital, everyday items, including nappies and cancer medication, are in a horrifying list of essentials that Israel bans from entering Gaza under its illegal blockade and occupation.

In a country with more child amputees than anywhere else on earth, the list includes wheelchairs and crutches.

The far-from-complete list of things the terror-state occupation denies to indigenous Palestinians it wants dead or gone was published by the Irish Examiner. Unsurprisingly, no UK mainstream media appears to have covered the appalling revelations.

Israel also bans baby formula from the open-air concentration camp where it is starving nursing mothers so intensely they cannot produce their own milk. Other barred essentials include:

Shampoo; cleaning materials; heaters; toilets; portable toilets; light bulbs; batteries.

Books; writing materials; sewing machines; water purification and drilling equipment; water pumps; disinfectants.

Fishing gear; hospital beds and other furniture; blood pressure monitors; scalpels, clamps and other surgical essentials; antibiotics; antiseptics; menstrual pads.

Anaesthetics – not even paracetamol; insulin.

Gaza has everyday essentials weaponised against them

Colin Sheridan, the journalist who compiled the list, wrote that his is usually an opinion column, but not in this case:

There is almost no opinion here. These are not metaphors. They are documented facts, each one a small but essential piece of existence weaponised to collectively punish a people.

Israel is a terror state. Sheridan believes the Irish government is failing in its duty to prevent genocide and other war crimes. This is true, but the UK is failing far more abysmally and is actively collaborating in Israel’s crimes, including the murder of British citizens as well as Palestinians.

The Burnham government is no better, for all its recent pantomime of a ‘boycott’ of settler goods.
