Paraguayan President Santiago Peña arrived in Venezuela this morning and was received by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, with the purpose of meeting with Delcy Rodríguez.

Peña arrives in the country as part of a working visit and to meet with the acting president Delcy Rodríguez, in a context where the Venezuelan State diversifies its Peace Diplomacy and understanding among the countries of the region.

Likewise, this represents a part of the understanding agenda extended by the national government to promote relations with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.It is worth noting that Venezuela and Paraguay have maintained historical relations of cooperation and exchange in different economic, social, and cultural areas.

After the earthquakes of last June 24, President Peña extended his solidarity, and that of the Paraguayan people, after the seismic contingency that impacted the central region of Venezuelan territory.

Paraguayan Foreign Minister, Rubén Ramírez, announced on Friday that this Saturday’s meeting in Caracas between Peña and Rodríguez will seek to reestablish bilateral relations through dialogue and mutual respect.

The summit is expected to discuss strengthening the economy, the fight against transnational organized crime, among other topics of interest between the two countries.
