NEW: The Senate is on the verge of passing the “Protect College Sports Act” after lobbying from Amazon, Disney, Paramount and more. The bill would cap player compensation, but fails to address massive coach salaries, buyouts, or private equity. Actual college athletes have been left out of the process, so while the NCAA would get an anti-trust exemption, players wouldn’t get a seat at the table.
