Venezuela’s government and former deputies from the 2015 Assembly resumed dialogue sessions in Caracas this Thursday, continuing the joint roadmap initiated on August 12.
The talks, led by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and Dinorah Figuera for the ex-deputies part, aim to address critical issues agreed upon in previous meetings.
This second round, taking place in Caracas, involves high-ranking officials from both sides, including Ana María San Juan, minister of Higher Education, and several deputies.

The government delegation includes Rodríguez, San Juan, and deputies Jorge Arreaza, América Pérez, Génesis Garvett, and Pedro Infante. The ex-deputies’ delegation comprises Marco Aurelio Quiñones, Ramón López, Jorge Millán, Juan Miguel Matheus, and Sergio Vergara. The primary goal is to continue the joint roadmap established on August 12, focusing on addressing the agreed issues.

The first round of discussions, which concluded on August 12, focused on immediate actions following the June 24 earthquakes. Key agreements included immediate actions to address the emergency caused by the seismic event.
Deputy Jorge Rodríguez reported that bilateral agreements were reached to transform the justice system and assist populations affected by the earthquakes. The talks also established two technical working groups: one for addressing the seismic emergency and the other for strengthening democracy, the judiciary, and electoral processes. The groups agreed on political and electoral guarantees to bolster the institutional framework and protect citizens’ civil rights.
The agreements also included strengthening support for earthquake victims, transforming the justice system, and recovering Venezuela’s international reserves held in the Bank of England. The recovered funds will be used to enhance priority state programs, focusing on housing solutions, electricity restoration, medical attention, and debris removal in affected areas. Strict transparency, traceability, and audit mechanisms will ensure the funds are used effectively for the well-being of affected citizens.
