And Mexico is never for sale.” President Claudia Sheinbaum delivers a speech defending Mexico’s sovereignty on Wednesday’s Independence Day military parade. The event marked the anniversary of the War of Independence against the Spanish kingdom in 1810. The message comes amid Trump’s Donroe Doctrine and its attacks on progressive leaders and movements across Latin America. Over 15,000 members of the Mexican armed forces took part in the civic-military parade, and 99 aircraft flew over Mexico City’s Constitution Square, the Zócalo.
