The leader of the Yemeni rebels rejects Saudi Arabia’s accusations regarding an attack on Mecca.

On Thursday, the head of the Political Council of Ansar Allah, Mahdi al-Mashat, categorically stated that the Yemeni rebels have not launched any attack against Mecca.

The Saudi accusations are “a desperate attempt to provoke Islamic nations” to turn them against the rebel group, he said.

“These lies will no longer deceive the Arab and Islamic nations, just as previous claims about threats to international maritime shipping failed to deceive them,” Al-Mashat said, according to IRNA.

On Wednesday, the Saudi Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that its country’s armed forces had intercepted a drone that had been launched by the Houthis against the holy city, which prompted statements of rejection from several Muslim governments and the Arab League.

Iran Calls for Caution Against False Accusations

On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei ratified the position of the Persian nation regarding the holy sites and rejected the false accusations against the Yemeni rebels.

“Any aggression against Islamic holy sites, particularly Mecca al-Mukarramah, Medina al-Munawwarah, and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as threats to their pilgrims and neighbors, is a condemned act. At the same time, a mere claim of intercepting a drone en route to Mecca al-Mukarramah cannot constitute grounds for accusing a specific party, especially since the Yemeni Government of Change and Construction has explicitly denied this claim,” he said.

“Iran emphasizes the necessity of preventing the politicization of the issue of Islamic sanctities and their security, and of not using it as a tool to incite strife and escalate regional tensions.”

“Nor should we forget that our region has witnessed numerous instances of “false flag” operations, particularly in recent months, aimed at diverting public opinion from the crimes committed by the Zionist entity and the U.S. in the region, and at sowing discord among Islamic countries. Caution and vigilance must be exercised!,” the Iranian diplomat stressed.

On Thursday, through messages posted on social media, which some Middle Eastern outlets have reproduced, the leader of Ansar Allah, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, criticized the unfounded accusations about the attack on Mecca and reiterated the strategic objectives of the Yemeni organization. The main statements of his message are presented below:

“Our dear people face the Saudi-American aggression and blockade that has lasted for 12 years. I address Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, with praise and gratitude for the great victories He has granted to our dear people in facing the aggression.

I extend my congratulations to our people for these victories, and I pray that God grants success, guidance and reward to the fighters in the armed forces, backed by the general mobilization.

The unjust Saudi aggression against our country and our people is carried out under American supervision. I say to all those who hypocritically weep for the holy places: come to the field of action and reality to defend the sanctuaries.

There is a clear enemy in its hostility toward all Islamic sanctuaries and in its attacks against them, and it is the Zionist enemy. Zionist beliefs, statements and plans are clear regarding the stance toward Mecca, Medina and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Zionist plan is fundamentally based on amputating Mecca and Medina, and on confiscating all of Palestine and large parts of the Arab countries.

We are ready to act as an Islamic alliance to confront the Zionist enemy, which represents a real danger to our sanctuaries and, first and foremost, to Mecca.

The regimes and governments that issued statements and echoed the slander against our dear people, what are they doing for the Palestinian people and for the Al-Aqsa Mosque?

Our demand is that Saudi Arabia end its aggression and lift its blockade; this is our cause. Our position is firm regarding the central cause of defending Palestine and the holy places.”
