Here’s the recording for the fourth session of the second round of our Substack philosophy class for paid subscribers there and “GTAA University” subscribers here, this one on G.A. Cohen’s book Self-Ownership, Freedom, and Equality. This time we finished Ch. 2 (“Justice, Freedom, and Market Transactions”). For next Tuesday we’re finally moving on to Ch. 3 (“Self-Ownership, World-Ownership, and Equality”), where Cohen argues that even if the libertarian establishes the self-ownership thesis, all their work is still ahead of them with regard to justifying an unequal division of external property.
