Hondurans took to the streets of Tegucigalpa on Tuesday in opposition to the Trump-backed government of President Nasry Asfura. Protestors called out the US president’s meddling in Honduras’s affairs which brought Asfura to power, as well as the trend of election interference responsible for the far-right wave sweeping across Latin America. Fernando Cerimedo made headlines in August when his ex-partner Nadia Beller revealed that the political consultant worked closely with numerous Latin American right-wing political figures to support their election bids through the use of bot farms and disinformation campaigns. Reports show that Cerimedo worked closely with not only Asfura, but other Trump-aligned figures across Latin America such as Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, Bolivia’s Rodrigo Paz, Argentina’s Javier Milei, and Chile’s José Antonio Kast.
