The 4th edition of “Lo Llevamos Rizo,” only natural Afro hair pageant, brought together Cuban stylists and their clients to celebrate Black beauty, identity and roots. For the entrepreneurs involved, it’s a chance to connect despite the challenges of running import-dependent businesses while the U.S. wages economic war on the island. The event pushes back against decades of beauty standards that treated natural Black hair as something to be fixed or hidden.
