84-year-old Mitch McConnell, who hasn’t been seen in three months, was wheeled onto the Senate floor on Tuesday to cast the deciding vote to advance Trump-backed judicial nominee Matthew R. Byrne. The average age of the U.S. Senate is 64 years old, eight of them are over 80 and they get to hold onto power until they die while their wealth shields them from any consequence of the decisions they make for the rest of us.
