Acting President Rodriguez names new officials in strategic energy, diplomatic and trade positions.

On Monday, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez announced new appointments at the Ministry of Oil and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

“I have decided to appoint new authorities in strategic areas to strengthen Venezuela’s international, commercial and energy projection,” she said, emphasizing that “At this stage, we are moving forward with greater coordination, international presence and new opportunities for Venezuela.”

In the area of diplomacy and foreign trade, Andrea Corao was appointed president of the Foreign Ministry’s Export Promotion Agency (VENEXPORTA); Carlos Perez will take over as vice minister for the Caribbean, and Eduardo Ramirez will serve as vice minister for Asia and Oceania.

Regarding diplomatic relations with Europe, Raul LiCausi was appointed ambassador and head of mission to the European Union, with accreditation to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Regarding the Ministry of Oil, Rodriguez appointed Radames Gomez to head the Vice Ministry of Hydrocarbons Geopolitics.

These appointments are part of a series of changes in the executive cabinet and other important state entities, such as the Central Bank.

These restructuring efforts have taken place since January, the month Rodriguez took office as acting president following the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
