The number of sanctioned vessels has risen to 77 as traffic through the strategic waterway remains well below prewar levels.
On Monday, the Persian Gulf Supervision Authority (PGSA) expanded the number of vessels included on the list of ships that violate Iranian navigation protocols in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Ships that violate Iranian protocols for the Strait of Hormuz will be subject to restrictions on future transits, which may include fines, detention or confiscation,” the PGSA warned, noting that the number of sanctioned vessels increased from 45 in August to 77.
“Before hiring a vessel, cargo owners making shipments to or from the Persian Gulf should consult the Non-Compliance List (NCL) to avoid potential problems,” the Iranian authorities added.
Iranian authorities warned that the NCL will also include any vessel that cooperates with ships on the list through ship-to-ship transfer operations, cargo transshipment or other similar mechanisms.
The measure comes as commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains well below levels recorded before the U.S. war on Iran began Feb. 28.
The growing list of ships banned by Iran adds pressure on a key maritime corridor for global oil and gas trade, amid heightened regional tensions and a new escalation of cross-border attacks between Iran and the United States.

Pezeshkian Has Not Yet Received U.S. Visa to Attend UN General Assembly
On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei confirmed that President Masud Pezeshkian has still not received a U.S. visa to participate in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which will be held in New York City from Sept. 22 to 28.
“This is the most important annual meeting of the United Nations, and we have always taken advantage of this opportunity to present our positions,” Bagaei said during a news conference last week.
In 2025, the Iranian government criticized the United States for its “inappropriate behavior” after Washington denied visas to several members of the Iranian press team who wanted to accompany the president on his trip to New York.
