A 12-story building partially collapsed amid heavy rains in São Paulo, killing two women and seriously injuring a man and a child.
Two people were killed and two others seriously injured Saturday when a 12-story building partially collapsed in São Paulo amid heavy rains that have kept the southeastern Brazilian city on alert, local authorities said.

The Brazilian Fire Department said the four victims were found at a property on Tequici Street in the Penha neighborhood. Two women died at the scene, while a man and a child were rescued and urgently taken to an emergency service in Tatuapé.
Initial investigations indicated that 11 members of the same family were inside the home when the collapse occurred. One of the women who died was pregnant.
The Fire Department deployed 59 personnel and 20 vehicles to conduct search, rescue and debris-removal operations at the site.

Rain keeps São Paulo on alert
São Paulo remained under alert as heavy rains continued across the region. Civil Defense warned that the conditions could contribute to landslides and the overflow of rivers and streams, although authorities ruled out an imminent risk of severe storms and tornadoes.
In the previous 48 hours, 26 incidents involving collapses and landslides associated with strong winds were recorded in the city, according to official data. Wind gusts reached up to 92 kilometers per hour within the municipality, while as much as 100 millimeters of rain accumulated in a single day, according to the Brazilian state agency.
Civil Defense urged residents not to cross flooded areas, either on foot or by vehicle, and to stay away from rivers, streams and other areas at risk of flooding.
