Cancún, QR. After noting that the caste society “to this day is reflected in some sectors of Mexican society as a reminiscence of the colonial period,” President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo compared the trip of a group of Panistas to Europe with the conservatives who went to bring Maximilian of Habsburg during the Second French Intervention in Mexico. She pointed out that when Mexican liberalism triumphed, “a little while later the conservatives, like now, go off to Europe to seek support from abroad because they say there is no Mexican who can govern Mexico, and they brought Maximilian, who stayed five years as a colony, a French protectorate.”

Led by PAN leader Jorge Romero, five Panistas have for several days now been touring Europe to seek alliances and to strengthen, as the man from the blue-and-white party said, cooperation “to build solutions for Mexican families.”

This afternoon, while delivering her “Honesty and Results” report in Cancún, President Sheinbaum Pardo stressed that sovereignty emanates from the people, and that means:

Its people define its destiny; no foreign power, no elite defines the destiny of the people of Mexico.

She mentioned that the discrimination of the caste society “still persists among some Mexicans; unfortunately it comes from there, from the colonial era.”

Nevertheless, she emphasized that throughout history, the people of Mexico have always fought for their independence, their sovereignty, and social justice; “they carry the word justice in their heart” and are proud of who we are.

She urged people to “never forget that unity with the people is the most important thing when it comes to transforming the homeland.” And “no difference is important when what is being defended is a better life for the people… We must not forget that unity is with the people of Mexico and with the defense of independence and sovereignty.”

She also said that in 2018, with the arrival of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the Fourth Transformation, the country began to change “and the essence of our heroes of the Independence, the Reform, and the Revolution was recovered, along with the yearnings of the people of Mexico for independence, freedom, democracy, and well-being.”

She underscored that López Obrador left “a beautiful legacy. So much so that they criticize him every day, but we always say: they can criticize him, but he stayed in the heart of the people and there he will remain.”

In her report, the president also mentioned that there is now a comprehensive plan to clean up the sargassum, “which this year was stronger than in others,” with an additional two billion pesos in investment for Quintana Roo.

She indicated that more boats are being purchased and that there are “other ways of cleaning up the sargassum.”
