“According to independent investigations by the Ministry of Health, these weapons used chemical agents to increase their lethality, and all documentation related to this war crime has been collected and documented,” denounced the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagaei, during a press conference during a visit to the city of Lamerd, as reported by the Tasnim agency.

Bagaei said that the “irrefutable evidence obtained on the ground and conclusive documentary evidence” show that “this crime against civilians was deliberate.”

The attack on Lamerd took place on the first day of the war between Iran, the United States, and Israel, when a U.S. precision-strike missile (PrSM) hit a crowded sports complex, according to Iranian authorities, killing 21 people who were at the scene and leaving nearly a hundred injured.

After watching a documentary about the attack, Bagaei called the incident a “crime against all of Iran and against humanity.”

The attack on Lamerd occurred on the same day that a U.S. Tomahawk cruise missile hit an elementary school in the southern city of Minab, killing 168 people, most of them children.

Bagaei maintained that Lamerd “will certainly not be the first or the last” of these “crimes” and called for efforts to clarify what happened and seek justice.

The Iranian accusations come almost two weeks after another U.S. attack that hit a home in Kuhestak, in the southern county of Sirik, where a wedding was being held, leaving at least five dead and 68 injured, according to Iranian authorities.
