On Thursday, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced it sold the broadcasting rights for the Copa do Brasil between 2027 and 2030 for over US$785 million, a record figure in the country.

Globo acquired the rights and will license them for free-to-air television, pay television, and the internet, and to Amazon, which will stream them on its Prime Video platform.
The value exceeds that of the previous cycle (2023-2026) by more than 80%, making the tournament one of the most valuable sports properties in Brazil and on the continent. A third group also acquired rights, although this has not been officially disclosed.
Brazilian media outlets indicate that it is ESPN, which will operate on subscription television and digital platforms. The agreement also includes the Supercopa Rei editions between 2028 and 2031, a tournament that pits the Brazilian champion against the winner of the Copa do Brasil.

The deal is expected to generate over US$196 million per season, which would make the Copa do Brasil one of the most lucrative knockout tournaments in the world. CBF President Samir Xaud emphasized that this is the largest rights negotiation in the history of Brazilian football.
The new model will double free-to-air broadcasts on free-to-air television, with 14 matchdays per season broadcast by Globo, compared to the eight stipulated in the current contract.
Globo’s pay-TV and streaming platforms will offer up to 88 matches annually, including the Copa do Brasil and the Supercopa, with new time slots to boost viewership. Starting in 2027, the CBF will produce the broadcast signal for all matches through CBF TV, providing a single feed to rights holders.
