The USA voted against the entire world in a United Nations General Assembly resolution that called for the UN to adopt a more accurate Equal Earth world map, replacing the colonial-era Mercator projection (of year 1569), which distorts the size of the West, making it look much larger, while Africa misleadingly appears to be small.
