Costa Rica inaugurated the photographic exhibition “Casa Batllo by Gaudi: The Modernist Jewel of the Catalan Genius” in downtown San Jose, featuring 34 outdoor panels in the Plaza de la Cultura.

The Spanish Cultural Center and the Central Bank Museums organized the exhibition to introduce Costa Ricans to the history and details of Antoni Gaudi’s iconic work as part of Gaudi Year 2026, which commemorates the centenary of the Catalan architect’s death.
The images, available free of charge until November 15, allow visitors to appreciate how Casa Batllo integrates architecture, nature, color, light, and forms, maintaining its capacity to amaze more than a century after its creation.
Jorge Rodriguez, Costa Rica’s Minister of Culture and Youth, emphasized that Casa Batllo is a “living heritage site” that attracts new audiences and educates, beyond its architectural and artistic value.

In addition to San Jose, another 22 images will be exhibited at the Cartago Municipal Museum between September 19 and December 31, expanding the reach of the cultural initiative.

One of the highlights will be the concert “Gaudi’s Universe on the Sagrada Familia Organ,” performed by organist Juan de la Rubia, who will perform a musical dialogue between the architect’s work and compositions by Bach, Alain, and Tournemire.
