Vozinha, the goalkeeper for Cabo Verde, has been named one of the top 10 goalkeepers in the world for the 70th Ballon d’Or, following his impressive performance at the 2026 World Cup.
The 70th Ballon d’Or will feature Josimar Dias, known as Vozinha, among the candidates for the Yashin Trophy. This award, presented by France Football to the best goalkeeper of the season, recognizes his outstanding performance during the recent 2026 World Cup.
With this nomination, Vozinha sets a historic precedent by becoming the first footballer from Cabo Verde to be considered for an award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

During his debut at the FIFA World Cup, Vozinha was a key player for the African team, helping them reach the round of 16 after playing four matches. In these games, he conceded five goals, kept his net clean in two matches, and made 18 saves, averaging 4.20 interventions per 90 minutes.

In the final vote, he will face off against Belgian Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Argentinean Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez (Chelsea), Russian Matvey Safonov (Paris Saint-Germain), Swiss Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund), Spaniards Unai Simón (Athletic Bilbao), David Raya (Arsenal) and Joan García (Barcelona), Moroccan Yassine Bounou (Al-Hilal) and Senegalese Édouard Mendy (Al-Ahli).
The winner will be announced on October 26 during the awards ceremony in London. The event will bring together representatives from the world’s leading football institutions to officially present the individual awards for the past season.
