Al-Manar correspondent Ali Shabib and a cameraman were wounded this Monday night when an Israeli drone strike near Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, while they were preparing a report.
Al-Manar media reported that Shabib and cameraman Mohammed Barjawi suffered light injuries in an Israeli attack near their location while they were preparing a segment for the network’s flagship newscast.
Both were taken to Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital for examination and are said to be in stable condition. Six months after Israel killed fellow network journalist Ali Shuaib.

Shabib and Barjawi were wounded during a series of Israeli strikes around Nabatieh that also killed civilians. Shabib’s profile at Al-Manar has grown considerably in recent months, particularly following the death of senior correspondent Ali Shuaib in an Israeli strike in March.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed Shuaib was an alleged member of Hezbollah Movement who, according to them, operated under the guise of journalism. “He consistently worked to expose the locations of IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon and along the border,” IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said following the strike, justifying a new attack to civil population.

A Fragile Ceasefire
The recent escalation of violence in southern Lebanon has raised concerns about the stability of the current ceasefire, as reports of civilian casualties and retaliatory strikes continue to surface.

Attacks Kill 27, Including Children
The Lebanese Health Emergency Operations Center reported that at least 27 civilians, including children and women, were killed and 69 others injured in the past three days due to Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. The attacks targeted several localities in the Nabatieh district, with at least 12 people killed and 10 injured in the village of Karf Rumman alone.
The Lebanese authorities have denounced Israel’s targeting of residential areas, healthcare centers, and media outlets. On August 31, the Lebanese government reaffirmed its diplomatic commitment to ending Israel’s military occupation and halting military incursions against national infrastructure. During a meeting with Greek authorities on September 1, Beirut demanded full compliance with the agreement signed on June 26, 2026, in Washington, D.C., which calls for Israel’s withdrawal and the restoration of control over the southern border.
According to the latest report from Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, the Israeli aggression since March 2 left 4,362 people dead and 12,378 wounded. Thus, the total accumulated from October 8, 2023 amounted to 8,929 martyrs and 30,614 wounded.
