Every day, President Claudia Sheinbaum gives a morning presidential press conference and Mexico Solidarity Media posts English language summaries, translated by Mexico Solidarity’s Pedro Gellert. Previous press conference summaries are available here.

42.8 Million Mexicans: Well-Being Has Become a RightWith spending of more than 1 trillion pesos (US$59.08 billion), the Fourth Transformation (4T) guarantees direct assistance to the beneficiaries of the government’s social programs. Among them, 13.7 million seniors receive 6,400 pesos (US$378) every two months. Rights are maintained and expanded. The next step will be to provide more scholarships and stipends to college students.

Well-Being That Reaches Households and CommunitiesThe 4T brings rights to the people. There have been 23 million “Health House-to-House” healthcare visits, and more than 445,000 farmers receive 6,450 pesos (US$381) monthly. All these programs share the same conviction: the poor come first.

Wages, Well-Being, and Investment: The Formula for Continuing to Reduce PovertyAfter lifting 13.7 million Mexicans out of poverty, the goal is for the minimum wage to cover 2.5 times the cost of the basic food basket. More than 1 trillion pesos (US$58.08 billion) is being allocated to well-being spending. President Claudia Sheinbaum affirmed that “we’re doing well, and we’re going to do even better.”

Fobaproa: The Debt of Neoliberalism That the People Continue to PayDecades later, Mexico continues to pay off the Bank Savings Protection Fund (Fobaproa). The President warned that payments will extend even beyond 2050—the date initially estimated for the debt’s repayment. The Ministry of Finance will explain how it was designed, how it evolved, and why it continues to weigh on the people.

Fox and Alito: The PRIAN Returns to the Past Because It Has No FutureFor decades, the PRI and the PAN pretended to be adversaries while governing together and defending the same privileges. Today, Fox returns to the PRI. Sheinbaum summed it up as follows: “Fox is a traitor to democracy.” On one side, a vision for the nation; on the other, a return to corruption and the past.

Governance from the Grassroots: Listening to and Serving the PeopleMore than 150,000 people attended Sheinbaum’s public activities across 10 states. On each tour, requests concerning justice and public services are received and addressed; urgent cases are given priority. Governing from the grassroots means listening to and responding to the people.
