Dan osborn is a former labor leader for the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union, Local 50G. In 2021, he rose to national prominence when he led a strike at a Kellogg’s cereal plant in Omaha, Nebraska. Now, he’s running for the U.S. senate as an independent candidate, against Republican incumbent Pete Ricketts; the two met in their first televised debate last Tuesday. Current Affairs associate editor Alex Skopic caught up with Osborn to discuss the future of the American labor movement, and find out where he stands on key issues like corporate lobbying, the war in Iran, and Medicare for All.
