Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared Wednesday during a visit to the Gaza Strip that Israeli troops will remain along the so-called Yellow Line and that military operations will continue until Hamas Movement is disarmed, even as the civilian death toll keeps climbing.

“We control the territory. We will not withdraw. We will stay on this line,” Netanyahu said in a video released by his office. “There is more to come, as we continue to eliminate the militants who threaten us daily,” he added.

The Israeli PM said operations will not stop until the disarmament of Hamas Movement and the demilitarization of Gaza are achieved, goals he said have not yet been fulfilled. “We are doing everything possible to achieve our goal,” he stated.
The Yellow Line marks the position to which Israeli forces were initially supposed to withdraw under the ceasefire negotiated by the United States in October 2025. That agreement contemplated further Israeli pullbacks and steps related to disarming Resistance Movement Hamas . Netanyahu, however, rejected a 15-point peace plan for Gaza in August, a proposal that Washington had backed.
Israel has steadily widened its military footprint inside the enclave. In May, Netanyahu said he had ordered the army to extend Israeli control to 70% of Gaza. His latest remarks confirm the expansion will continue despite the truce that has nominally been in force since October 2025.

Civilian Death Toll Rises
The ongoing Israeli attacks have produced a steady stream of casualties. On Monday, August 31, at least five people were killed in airstrikes across different points of the Strip. One bombing struck near a municipal public park in Gaza City, an area crowded with displaced families, killing two people and wounding several others, according to medical teams. A separate strike hit a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood west of Gaza City, leaving at least three dead.
At Al-Shifa hospital, relatives and friends bid farewell to two of the victims before their bodies were taken to a cemetery. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that in the most recent 24-hour period, eight people were killed and 13 wounded by bombardments southwest of Gaza City, demolitions southeast of Deir al-Balah and gunfire near Khan Younis.
Since the ceasefire was declared on October 11, 2025, a total of 1,326 people have died and 4,398 have been wounded. The cumulative toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 73,462 dead and 174,509 wounded treated in hospitals across the enclave, figures that continue to rise as Netanyahu pledges to extend the military occupation.
