Tehran will not allow restrictions on its oil exports as tensions escalate following attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
On Tuesday, Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf said Iran would respond militarily if the United States intensifies its maritime blockade of Iranian ships and ports.

“If they intensify the blockade, we will undoubtedly give a military response,” Qalibaf said, noting that a naval blockade is considered a military action under international law.
“If the enemy’s intention is to prevent us from exporting oil from the Persian Gulf, then no one will be able to export oil,” he stressed.
Qalibaf reiterated that Iran will not allow oil tankers to transit through the southern route near the coast of Oman because its use contradicts the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the United States on June 17.
Qalibaf’s warnings came a day after the U.S. attacked Larak Island. Iran responded with attacks against U.S. bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, in the first exchange of military hostilities in a month.

Baghaei Condemns EU Support for U.S. Economic Operation Against Iran
On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the EU’s support for a U.S. economic operation against Iran, saying that Europe could no longer claim “strategic autonomy.”
Baghaei made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X in response to an EU statement issued Monday at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Asheville, United States.
The EU said it “welcomes efforts (aimed) at ensuring that Iran ceases its destabilizing activities and engages in peace negotiations with good faith, also through additional economic pressure, including through the U.S.-led Operation Economic Outcast.”
“Europe can no longer speak of ‘strategic autonomy’ while merely executing Washington’s orders,” Baghaei pointed out.
On Aug. 19, U.S. President Donald Trump announced what he called “the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country,” warning that countries providing a lifeline to Iran would face “tremendous economic consequences.”
