BACKBENCHERS have warned Prime Minister Andy Burnham of a growing rebellion against hard-line immigration reforms pushed by Shabana Mahmood, left MPs said.

Another six MPs are to join a motion on Tuesday evening, demanding the Home Secretary drop changes to the indefinite leave to remain (ILR).

This would bring the total number of MPs standing against Ms Mahmood’s reforms to 63, warning that “retrospective changes to this pathway would undermine confidence in the immigration system, damage the UK’s international reputation, and risk exacerbating skills shortages.”
